Creation of New Asset Category with Default Subcomponent Life

Hi,

While creating  a new category for a Parent Asset I need to enter the Default Sub component Life ( for child asset)

Bu the system does not allow me to select, what could be the reason for this? there is a message below screen  as "FRM-40200: Field is protected against update"
