Assign IP to NIC in zone

Hi,

The NIC (nxge6) is inside the zone config but has not assigned an IP yet. I tried to plumb up the NIC inside the zone by assigning IP address. The output of ifconfig -a shows:

:

<UP,BROADCAST,MULTICAST,IPv4>...

"RUNNING" is missing from the output. The NIC is not running.

Is there a way to bring the NIC to live or it has to perform a reboot of the zone to bring it live? Please advise.
