Mview Refresh fails

Hi all,

Fast refresh fails with this error when it run through a process ,however after rerunnig the process it succeeds

MVRF: Concurrent scheduler exception: ORA-30439: refresh of 'MVIEW_FIN.MV_PS_PROJ_RESOURCE_PART_NEW' failed because of ORA-12008: error in materialized view refresh path
ORA-01858: a non-numeric character was found where a numeric was expected
ORA-02063: preceding line from FINANCE

any idea why this occurs ,no virtual columns on base table.is this due to any know bug..how can i proceed troubleshooting this process
