Default lot status

Hi,

I'm not clear on how default status from inv org parameters is used.

I have put it as 'quarantine' and enabled onhand status control.

When I create a new subinvetory, by default lot status is 'active'.

When I misc receive an item/lot into a subinventory with status 'active' by default item/lot status is 'active'.

If I enable lot status control at item level with default status as 'quarantine' then it works.

So what is the use of default status from inv org parameters ?!
