HFM Database Connection Issue

Has anyone had the experience of an HFM server changing it's database connection?  We have an EPM/Workspace, HFM, FDM, FR 11.1.2.2 305 MS-SQL environment. We have three HFM servers with two clusters defined.

Out of the blue one of the HFM servers no longer can access my HFM applications.  When we create a new application on that server it creates the database tables in the wrong database (we use multiple SQL dbs).  We re-run EPM Config Tool, reconfigure the correct database but any new applications still write to the wrong database.

Any ideas on how to fix this?
