Archived backups and Level 0 and 1 backups
i have a backup strategy of running on Sat Archive backup, on Sunday a level 0 and Monday through Friday a level 1.
The archived one has an option of keep sysdate +20, keeps the backup three weeks on disk, the level 0 has the option of keep until time -next Sunday; the level 1 has no specific keep options but the overall retention policy for Rman has been set up to redundancy one.
The problem that I have is when the level 0 is deleted the level 1 backups remain and are not made obsolete by the archive backup of the database taken the week before. I end up having an archive backup followed by level 1 and NO level 0 for that week. I understand the archive backup takes the place of the level0 and the level 1 remain to help recover from one archive backup through the next but is there a way for me to be able to delete the level 1 without disrupting the system. We keep archived redo-logs
