After many, many hours of trying: How do people know how to search for patches without knowing their

how do people know that to install 11.2.0.4  from 11.2.0.1 they need patch 13390677. I tried search for four hours in the "patches and updates" and all I could find are documents asking you download 11.2.0.4 but none mention number (13390677). Can anyone tell me how they are finding what they want? Because Patches and Updates section is asking for the number of the patch before giving you the download. How to know the number? It seems like it's working backwards.

I find this tedious, I feel discouraged because someone with my "limited" but broad experience should be able to accomplish this.

How did people know from the "Patches and Updates" section that 13390677 is the correct patch for upgrading from 11.2.0.1 to 11.2.0.4?  Isn't there some combo box where you choose a "from" and a "to" which gives you this information?
