Persistent Customer Dashboard in Open UI 81.1.1.14 ps5

In OUI, on the Persistent Customer Dashboard does not have a control to Clear the dashboard.   We know the Clear function is available via the Application Menu but we have the need to add a Clear button to the Dashboard.  We have already tried manipulating the Persistent Customer Dashboard Applet in Tools (it already had the Clear button on the web layout) but anything done in Tools does not appear in the application.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
