Setting up Geography Hierarchy in TCA

Hello -

We are currently on R12.1.3 , and currently we have US geography Hierarchy setup and in State Field we have a lov populated so a user can select state name from the Lov. My question is if I wanted to setup

other countries like Canada,Australia,Mexico and have Province or State to be listed so a user can select from LOV instead of manually entering them 

Do I need to create a new Geography Hierarchy separately for each Country. What are pro/cons of doing that and any best practices I can leverage . And any documentation I can refer to while setting them up. Just a few examples below
