Has anyone done FA Conversion and then updated OAT as a post process ?

We are looking at Option for doing FA Conversion(from 11i to R12)

Option 1 - Convert Item Onhand --> Create IB Records --> Run OAT --> Create FA Records

Option 2 - Convert FA directly from 11i to R12 --> Then create IB records for the corresponding FA records, using Open interface flow for Assets.

Option 1 has lot of challenges - as it has to go through multiple modules/processes.

Has anyone implemented Option 2..? In the OAT Guide, there is not much details regarding the Open interface flow for Assets. If any one has more inputs/experience --> Please let me know.
