Migrating/Upgrading from Solaris to Linux

We're moving from Solaris to Linux.  We have Oracle 11.2.0.3 on the Solaris boxes, which host PeopleSoft Campus Solutions 9.1 on PeopleTools 8.53.17.  We have been exporting the main PeopleSoft schema from the 11.2.0.3 database and successfully importing it into a brand new 11.2.0.4 database on the Linux box.  We haven't thoroughly tested the PeoleSoft application but preliminary testing looks good.  The export/import process was flawless.

Over the years, I have always read that export/import was good for migrating between platforms and that still seems to be the case.  Is there any reason why the process I describe above wouldn't be recommended for use in this project?  If so, what reason is it ans why?
