SLA Merge Matching Lines - Is there a profile option to make this happen?

We are currently running Oracle EBS R12.1.3.  Our Oracle Owned Journal Line Types are set to NO in field "Merge Matching Lines".  Attempt to revise this field to ALL results in ERROR This field cannot be updated. Creating User Owned Journal Line Types, Journal Line Definitions, etc. for all of SLA would be highly cumbersome and a maintenance nightmare.

It is my understanding from Oracle Subledger Accounting Implementation Guide, pg 2-36, 37, that "As a result of merging (set to ALL), a journal entry line with a net of zero amount can be created".  I assume this means that within a subledger journal entry where values are the same for all required attributes the following journal lines would be merged:
