Can we use Excel Template for pivot tables in EBS 12.1.3 ?

In many forums it is said that there are many limitations while using Excel templates in EBS. We are on EBS 12.1.3 and I want to create a report using Excel template that can be made a pivot table. Did anyone already try it in EBS and is it feasible. If there is any documentation on creating a pivot table using Excel templates in EBS can someone please point me to those.
