Payroll Costing - Transfer to GL

We currently do the transfer to GL step after costing.  When we do this it really does not transfer to gl.  We do not have it setup correctly.  We have a payroll set of books and each payroll company has a set of books with different accounts.  We have 8 company set of books but only 4 currently use Oracle.  I am new to the GL side so I am not sure what we need to do to set this up correctly so it transfers into each of those 4 companies set of books?
