upgrade GI in a prim, standby environment

Hello,

11.2.0.3 on RHL with Primary and physical standby database on another host - no RAC.

My understanding is that it should not be a problem If I do GI/ASM upgrade (to 12c) first on primary or on standby (already did for stand alone), isn't it? Yes there is proper procedure to do database upgrades when in data guard but is there any special way to follow for GI upgrade too? - confused a bit.
