Siebel IP 2013 to IP 2014 Upgrade

Hi,

Can anyone explain use of IRM in upgrade from Siebel 8.1.1.11 to 8.1.1.14? When should it per performed during upgrade process and precisely how it is done?

I've followed Siebel bookshelf but it added only a little. It covers too much of theory; essential points are still missing which is making me troubleshoot multiple errors since last few weeks.
