How to sell software ( ordered with features) from order management and track

How to sell software from order management where a link to download the software and license key will be provided. The ordering would include the selection of features. Finally the license keys need to be tracked in the system for the software. Not sure if install base can be used for tracking the license keys info.

I am seeing that selling subscription contract from Order Management is available in R12.2.2 onwards..Can some one please clarify if this can be enabled thru a backported patch in R12.1.3
