Re: How does your business process track the next due maintenance action?

In the private jet industry we use a combination of counters and predetermined windows of opportunity.

Since each aircraft will need to be on call for a certain number of hours in a certain part of the world, you have to make sure that the aircraft is not near any counter limit (flight hours) for their standard ABCD checks, or near a milestone counter for overhaul on major components (total lifetime hours on engine).

When a call for an aircraft comes in and the flight plan will put this aircraft near its counter limit on a component (such as the engine) then we will try to make sure that the end of the flight plan will put this aircraft at an airfield where we have pre-determined maintenance contracts with the local hangars. And to complicate matters we will also try to use opportunistic windows to get our ABCD checks in as well. If the plane is already grounded for 24hours for an engine check, why not use that time for the A or B

Howdy, Stranger!
