Insite editing

Our client has requirement where in a page section can either be shown via single static list of recommendation asset (multiple assets within it) or an attribute with multiple assets. But they also want to have insite editing feature for this section, any ideas if it is possible to create a single slot for two attributes? If I drop recommendation, I won't see slot to add the attribute of multiple assets and vice-versa.
