Is there a pro-active fix for lack of GL import references on account drilldown

We are having the issue found in doc 746825.1 (account drill down for inventory transactions retrieves no transaction lines).

we have this with our data that we are upgrading to R12 because we post to GL in summary.

There is a patch and a fix referenced in the document which we have applied and which works.

But my company would like to see if this problem can be fixed in R11 before we upgrade.  Can the gl import references be populated.?
