Stop Notifications and alerts

What is the best way of avoiding notifications and alerts when i am in the process of applying a patch to OMS in OEM12c Cloud Control release 4. I have RMAN backups and few other SQL batch jobs configured in Enterprise Manager 12c. Whenever i restart OMS, it sends out alert notifications about jobs being suspended. Please explain how i can stop sending these alerts when i am applying patch to OMS.

Creating a blackout on OMS and agent software on the server?

Removing and adding back of email addresses from SYSMAN-->Enterprise Manager Passwords & Email in OEM console?
