Why is custom date field E11 not allowed in P06041?

I would like to use ED11 as a custom date field for calculating DBAs and be able to do a mass update if needed.  This is the first date field when you inquire from the row exit of the Employee Master?  Why is this field not in the list for Future Data Updates?  The only work around is to write a SQL to update the database.
