Oracle Form Builder 10.1.2.3 On Linux File Open Dialog Box Not Working

This question is about trying to use the Oracle Form Builder version 10.1.2.3 running on Linux through XMing.

Due to our version of Oracle EBS, we need to be able to use the 10.1.2.3 version of Oracle Form Builder.  Since this version is not supported on 64-Bit Windows 7, and since I have personally witnessed failures of this tool when installed on Windows 7 when we tried to load certain .fmb files into it, we had previously been using Windows XP virtual machines and running the Form Builder under those.

That, for various reasons, running the Windows XP virtual machine is no longer a viable option.  Thus, we have migrated to the Linux version of the Form Builder 10.1.2.3, running on our Linux application servers and using XMing as the XWindows client on our desk tops.  Everything works great except for one nagging problem.
