Recurring Journals in R12 EBS - can these post to prior period?

Hi all,

One of our clients has queried if it is possible to set up recurring journals in the GL, to take the YTD balance for a specific GL account combination as at the end of the prior period, and for that recurring journal to backpost into that prior period? For example:

Woud it be possible for a recurring journal to be generated on 02/06/15 say (by which time the current period is JUN-15), taking the YTD balance for a given account combination as at 31/05/15, and then automatically post this into the prior period (MAY-15)?

I've researched various documents and tested various scenarios, and have been able to determine that:
