Question for implementing Oracle Fusion Expenses in an iOS/Android app

We want to implement 'Oracle Fusion Expenses in an iOS/Android app', we are following note 1625446.1. Do we have to follow 1642431.1 also? Also we are setting up external web server in DMZ zone for this purpose, can we do this without reverse proxy? If yes, what feature will be missed in case we don't implement reverse proxy server?
