EPM 11.1.2.3 - Planning URL User access vs workspace and Read-only roles

G'day,

We upgraded to EPM Suite 11.1.2.3 (Planning,FDMEE,HFM) applications. Have following questions related to Planning

(1) What console does users typically access to run calculation scripts, sequences etc in 11.1.2.3? Is it through workpace(EPMA) or Planning console?

(2) What is recommended  in reference to 1 above and why?

(3) Is there a way to provide read-only access to EPMA so that users can only view the outline,calculation scripts,business rules  but not modify them for change control?
