RMAN duplicate using backup

Hello All, I am trying to run a database RMAN duplicate using backup. I have taken an online backup and put the database back in noarchivelog mode after completion of backup. Can someone let me know if it is necessary for the target database to be in archivelog mode during duplication process if we are using an online backup?
