Dollar sign not displaying consistently in product pick applet

The requirement is to display the cost on the pick product pick applet on the line item: the Product pick applet can be found at Quotes > Line Item > Press 'New Button' > Field 'Product' has a pick applet. The cost is set on Administration Product  > Pricing > cost.

To implement this, on the 'Internal Product' BC we configured a MVL based on the existing link 'Internal Product/Cost List Item', then added an MVF field with destination field = Standard Cost and on the 'Currency Code field'  we have: Cost List Item Currency Code (we even tried w/ 'Currency Code', the default value being the dollar sign $). But what we observing is that some line item have the dollar $ displayed and others don't.
