VCP/ASCP Resource Department (Planning)

Hi all

This is more of a planning related question but I see the Supply Chain Planning section is read only.  In the documentation for setting up JDE/VCP/ASCP there is mention made of defining departments so that resources for an operation are not shared across departments.  Does anyone know any more about this?  I tried to search in MOS but did not come across anything so any help will be appreciated.
