What is the difference between the 'Period Close Exceptions Report (XLM)' and the 'Subledger Period

The 'Subledger Period Close Exceptions Report' was run by the user as part of AP Month End Close This produced "No Data Found". The user tried to close the period and the system ran 'Period Close Exceptions Report (XLM)' which returned 10 exception invoices. What is the difference between these two reports in the types of exceptions that each picks up?
