Is it true that Oracle does not support Oracle Database installations on Oracle VMs in the ODA?

We are currently working in a project for a customer, and my solutions engineer tells me that Oracle does not support Oracle Database Installations on a VM, that is a bit contradicting with my understanding of what the manual is saying. Could you please help.
