is there any reason why I should not be able to concat data item ALPH and PTCM2

I am trying to use the concat(,) function to append the current user name from the address book  and date to an existing comment field.

I am able to concat the comment and date  or date and name    but whenever I try to concat the name and the comment  the comment gets dropped off.

is there any reason why I should not be able to concat data item ALPH and PTCM2 ?

I am new here and to JDE  any help would be appreciated.
