Missing Veritas/SAN storage drops server to maintenance mode

Greetings,

We have pairs of primary and disaster recovery servers running Oracle databases.  All of the Oracle data lives on SAN, presented by Veritas VxVM.  The SAN can only be visible/mounted on the active server.  The inactive server has no SAN visible.  So we've been commenting out the SAN mountpoints in /etc/vfstab on the inactive servers, otherwise they will fail to boot to multi-user and that's really caused us some grief (especially when ALOM is hosed and we can't find anyone to put hands on the server!).

Those experiences have me attempting to engineer a more elegant solution to the problem.  However, Solaris 10 doesn't appear to have separate mounting "services" for local vs non-local storage, which might offer a solution.  Likewise, Veritas doesn't appear to have a "try to mount, but don't complain if it fails" option.

Howdy, Stranger!
