Position Heirachy Not working Accurately?

Hello experts,

We use position hierarchy for  the approval of purchase orders and purchase requisitions. We recruited new employee on behalf of retired employee and his position and job are assigned for newly created employee while removing position and job from previous employee. How ever now notifications are not transferred for newly created employee.

Please Help us to resolve this issue...........
