Can a standby DB be hosted on a higher version of the same operating system ? For example, primary

Can a standby DB be hosted on a higher version of the same operating system ? For, example Primary DB is on RHEL 4.5 and Standby is on RHEL 6.0 ?  (Oracle binary versions on both server is the same eg. 10.2.0.4 64 bit)

If it is possible will this work for 9i, 10g , 11g ?

Is there an Oracle Note that provides this type of information ?
