Need to implement custom margin computation in Quoting?

In Release 12.2.4, a new profile and procedure was added for Margin Calculation : profile ASO: Gross Margin Computation and procedure ASO_QUOTE_HOOK.Compute_Margin.

How can these be used in order to implement a custom margin computation?
