Accounting class setup in SLA

Hi

This question is related to subledger accounting setups.

All the journal line types are associated with a Accounting classes.

So what is the purpose of accounting classes in SLA architecture?

I know we define post accounting programs which are containers of accounting classes,but the documentatin for this is not sufficient.

Suppose we have a program Payables Posted Invioce register report which has a accouting class say XXX_Cost attached to it.

How does the application intrepret above setup?

Can i have some clarity on this?
