Why does standard EBS shipment and booking allow only Gregorian Monthly Periods?

We have done some scoping on changing Fiscal Weekly to Fiscal Monthly Calendar as we are due for a upgrade to R12 (Currently we are on 7.3.02 Demantra- EBS R11.5.10).

Here is the summary of our observation, I wanted to share with the community and get valuable pointers

1) We can do custom import (integration profile) of all data streams to fiscal monthly-except the standard EBS Shipment & Booking history. The EP Full down  forces the dates to first date of the Gregorian calendar. example if we have the custom monthly calendar Aug 2015 starting 09-AUG-2015, system EBS S&B collections will force it as 01-AUG-2015. However if you creating a custom integration profile and populate it the same data, we can see 09-AUG-2015..No system issues.
