Sales not being updated by R42800 Sales Update

We are running Sale update on a scheduler and I noticed that some of the sales are not being picked up by the job.  We are analyzing reasons like the period being closed, activity rules not being set up, and other usual culprits for this but can't determine why these sales orders are not being updated. Can anyone using the Sale Order management give some insight as to why this occurs?
