User has requested a UDC in Address Book be setup to allow a "Date Verified". Is this possible?

I have had a user to requested that an Address Book UDC be changed to allow for a date to be entered in a Cat Code. Instead of adding all possible dates into a standard UDC can a Cat Code be change to allow the user to just enter a date and that date have a standard format (mmddyyyy)?
