Install Base Configuration - Is there a maximum number of Child records that can be in the config?

Hi - need to know if there is a maximum number of Child records that can be in an IB configuration. We may have a need to have a single Parent with many (thousands) Child records (2 levels), or the configuration could have 3 or more levels (Parent - Child - Grandchild - Great Grandchild). Are there any limitations as to how large (the number of Child/Grandchild/Great Grandchild) the IB config can be? Thanks in advance for any info.
