ASM sessions - ORA-00020: maximum number of processes 100 exceeded

I've never run across this problem.  I'm hoping someone else can shed some light on whats going on.

We have three databases using ASM storage.    As far as I know nothing has changed on this box during the time when things started happening.  (Nobody was logged onto the box when the errors started to occur).

We have about 10 systems using ASM with 2 - 7 databases.  All of these systems have ASM set to PROCESSES=100 and we haven't seen this problem elsewhere.

We started to see ORA-00020 errors in the ASM alert log on 7/13 at 16:00 - they have continued for three days.
