Oracle Depot Repair - Single Repair Organization with two items

Hello Team - We have a requirement in using Depot Repair. Business does not want to use/configure a separate repair organization. Instead want to use same manufacturing organization for repairs but create separate items. First item will be sold and the other item will be used when any repair occurs, the second item is created to avoid issue's happening in planning which create's a demand there for repairs. We are also using Installbase module which tracks the item instance life cycle  which we are feeding to third party systems for warranty tracking.

Per Oracle, a separate repair organization is valid but there is additional work in tracking and resources this organization. How can this achieved by using the same MFG organization for repair without impacting planning & reservations.
