Order fulfillment Vs Sales order availability check

Hi - Need to know , what is the advantage of using the order fulfillment for the business in E9.1, currently we are in E8.12 and going for an upgrade , just want to understand the actual difference between fulfillment and typical inventory commitment during sales order via availability checking.

I see , there are extra process involved in fulfillment process like (Scores/Rules/Review/Release) and than to Print pick-slip. where as current JDE process is just create an sales order and P4210(processing option enabled for item availability check) it check availability and commits the inventory.This process looks simple.

So, just want to know , why should we use order fulfillment ? what is the advantage for business in implementing this process?
