Oracle 12c DB Performance Guidelines for Siebel 8.1

We have Siebel CRM 8.1.1.11 (Call Center and Orders) on Windows 2012 connecting to an Oracle Database EE 11.2.0.2 with RAC option (3 node) on OL5u10 (UEK).  We have new database hardware and we will be installing Oracle Database EE 12.1.0.2.0 with RAC option (2 node) on OL6u5 (UEK) as Multitenant (Single Tenant) database).  We will migrate the current 11.2.0.2 Siebel Schema to 12.1.0.2.0 PDB.  I opened an SR since the "Performance Tuning Guidelines for Siebel CRM Application on Oracle Database (Doc ID 781927.1)" is representing 11g database and we are moving to 12c.  Oracle Support is recommending to follow Guideline and configure using 11g path.  It seems odd that we would follow 11g since newer version typically always has improvements to the optimizer and the method to gather statistics.
