Cycle Counting question on reinitialize , update assignment group

We are on 12.2.3 and have a general question about cycle counting -

Generally mfg plants setup a new cycle count say every quarter or every 6 months.Now if the count frequency for say A items is 12 times a year and you start off with a cycle count C1 at the beginning of the year with the A count frequency as 12 , and if after 6 months define another cycle count C2 with the same count frequency of 12 for A items,does the system remember how many times the items were already counted in C1 and therefore it must adjsut for that when C2 is scheduled?If not is it a better
