Encrypting Enterprise and Service Passwords

Hello,

Question:

  1. When upgrading from 8.1.1.10 to 8.1.1.14, is it necessary to remove the Siebel Server configuration and then re-run the Siebel Server configuration 8.1.1.14, to re-encrypt the enterprise and service passwords to the AES standard?
  2. Or is this done automatically when upgrading the application to 8.1.1.14?

Background:

While upgrading from Siebel 8.1.1.10 to Siebel 8.1.1.14 (Ip2014) on Windows 2008 r2, my customer was at the point where the passwords need to be encrypted in AES.

They recreated the enterprise password through srvrmgr.  Then they regenerated the Siebel service, using command:

siebctl -h %SIEBEL_ROOT% -S siebsrvr -i "<enterprise name>_<Siebel server name>" -a -g "-g <gateway hostname>:<port#> -e <enterprise name -s <Siebel server name> -u sadmin" -e <new password>.

Howdy, Stranger!
