In adding new account site purpose, will the purpose also show on the party site?

We are seeing some inconsistencies in updating sites and site purposes under an account versus what we see in the party record for that account.  If we add a business purpose to an existing account site, should we expect to see that purpose under the party site in eBusiness Center.  We do not.
