Remark Text Field

Is it possible to limit input on Remark Text fields to unicode characters?  I have a reoccuring issue with planners copying email text into remark text fields.  When they do this I get hidden characters that wind up failing translation at my Integration Layer server that translates GLOGXML to Tab Deliminated Format due to non-unicode text.
