R12.1.3 - Automated Service Request System

Can someone point me to logical documentation on WF Notifications, what they do/control, for WF Type Service Request (Type: SERVEREQ) ?

Our users want to "acknowledge" these type of requests automatically but that is not an option.  If they resolve the notification, it is closing the SR, automatically, which is not what we are looking for.

Appreciate the help.
